A couple of months ago I received a letter from my former employer stating that they made a mistake - they had put too much money into my 401K and now I owe them over $600. The letter stated because I didn't have my 401K w/ their company (they told me I had to move it) I have to pay this out of my pocket to them.
Do I legally have to repay this? It was their mistake and I don't have that much money so handy. Also, what are the ramifications w/ the 401K that has this extra money?
Thanks in advance!
