I must withdraw some funds from my 401k and there is no way to avoid it.

The only thing that I do have slight control over is WHEN I withdraw it -- Dec 2009 or Jan 2010.

I am aware of the penalties and taxes that must be paid but would like to delay those taxes as long as I can.  For instance, if I withdraw the money in Jan,
then I won&#39;t have to pay the taxes until I submit my taxes in 2011 for the tax year 2010.

he is precluded from using the Age 55, separation from service exception for the 10% penalty tax.

you are elibible for extensions, they send out a letter for you to file for extensions.
